  • 2018 OU STEM Faculty acknowledgement in recognition of “sustained innovation in online teaching, your effective research leadership, management and impact in within your field, your external engagement, leadership and the way you have supported and helped to develop others within the wider school and scientific community”
  • 2018 Team Merit Award in recognition of “the [OU] team’s outstanding achievements at this year’s Soapbox Science MK event…actively engaging the general public with scientific research carried out at the OU, and promoting awareness of women in science” 
  • 2017 Team Merit Award in recognition of our “innovative approach to developing synchronous field-casts that provides students with a safe, supportive and accessible environment in which they can work collectively with peers and staff, to actively test and develop key field-skills prior to carrying out their own independent field-projects” with Philip Wheeler, Kadmiel Maseyk, Trevor Collins, Ben Hawkridge, Chris Valentine, Anthony Stanton and Kate Bradshaw, The Open University.
  • 2016 Special Award in recognition of support of others in developing their critical writing skills, contributions to digital innovations in research and teaching and leadership in research, The Open University.
  • 2014 Faculty of Science and Engineering Award for Excellence in Sessional Teaching, Macquarie University
  • 2013 Second Place in the inaugural Creativity and Contributions in Teaching Award (CACTA): Julia Cooke and Matthew Bulbert “Identifying and Understanding Key Findings and Effectively Communicating Scientific Concepts: MRes Tasks Centred on the Seminar Series.”
  • 2010-2006 Australian Postgraduate Award (PhD scholarship)
  • 2009 joint 2nd place Genes to Geoscience Writing award
  • 2005 Specialist Professional Development Grant, Macquarie University
  • 2004 Blackwell Management and Restoration Award for best oral presentation by a student address on a management or restoration topic (Ecological Society of Australia Annual Conference 2004, Sydney).
